The United Nations eight Millennium Development Goals
(MDGs) – which range from halving extreme poverty to
halting the spread of HIV/AIDS and providing universal
primary education, all by the target date of 2015 – form
a blueprint agreed to by all the world’s countries and
all the world’s leading development institutions. They
have galvanized unprecedented efforts to meet the needs
of the world’s poorest.
The World Health Organization's water quality guidelines
form the basis for regulation and standard setting to
ensure the safety of drinking water. The microbial safety
of drinking water as well as well as guideline values of
chemical hazards is discussed.
Design for the Other 90% showcases ideas that
address the needs of access to food and water, energy,
education, healthcare, revenue-generating activities, and
affordable transportation. The exhibition was on view at
the Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum.
The World's Water project is dedicated to providing water
information, data, and resources to individuals,
organizations, and institutions working on solutions to a
wide range of global freshwater problems.
United Nations 2nd world water development review
analyses the world's freshwater resources in all regions
and most countries of the world and tracks progress
