Delaware Sweeps MIT Engineers
The Delaware lightweight squad made one final trip up to Boston, MA to take on the MIT Engineers. Conditions were beautiful with warm, sunny skies and very little wind. The trip marked the team’s first sweep, winning every race entered, over and eastern sprints team.
The No. 7 ranked Delaware Varsity 8+ was first to see action against the No. 11 ranked MIT Varsity. In a close battle from wire to wire, the Delaware V-lights crossed the line first in a time of 6:08.7, followed closely by MIT’s 6:09.2.
Soon thereafter, the Frosh/Novice 8+ took to the water racing to an impressive 5-second victory over the Engineers, posting a time of 6:07.7. MIT finished in 6:12.4, respectively.
In the final race of the day, the 2V8+ broke into two fours to take on the MIT 2V/2F 4+. Both Delaware crews reached the line ahead of MIT, the first crossing in a time of 6:56.6, and the second in 7:07.9. The Engineer’s four recorded a time of 7:13.2.
The entire Delaware squad will be back in action next weekend to take part in the 72nd annual Dad Vail Regatta, May 7th & 8th, held on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, Pa.
