UD Rowers Make a Splash at Independence Day Regatta

Philadelphia, PA. Delaware Crew members Will Purman ('13) and Pat Kenney ('11) as well as alumni Dave Walton ('09) and Pete Seymour('08) all raced at the Independence Day Regatta this past weekend on the Schuylkill River. Purman raced under the blue and white stripes of Riverside Boat Club in the Men's Intermediate Lightweight 8+ and Intermediate Lightweight 4+ events. Walton also competed in the Intermediate Lightweight 8+ event for the New York Athletic Club. Kenney raced again for Penn AC in the Men's 4+. Seymour competed in the Men's Intermediate 1x as well as the Men's 1x events for the University Barge Club. In Saturday’s action, Kenney's 4+ won the final ahead of Vesper and Riverside with a time of 6:42.48. Purman won the Intermediate Lightweight 8+ in a time of 6:10.52, with Walton's crew from NYAC taking silver with a time of 6:16.48. Seymour ended up 5th in the Intermediate 1x Semi-Final, finishing ahead of 13 rowers in the event. On Sunday, Purman's Riverside Intermediate Lightweight 4+ placed second in 7:05.31, only falling to NYAC. Congratulations to all UD rowers that competed this past weekend.
