Core Roles and Responsibilities

Growth Groups are different from small groups in that Growth Groups are not merely Bible studies, but mini-movements within the larger ministry. Below are the key leaders needed in every Growth Group.

Fellowship Facilitator (Explores Background and Experience)

  • Receives regular vision and equipping form a Campus Crusade training, staff, intern or volunteer ministry coach.
  • Connects regularly with the Fellowship Facilitators of other groups to pray, plan and prepare together for this aspect of the Growth Groups in the coming weeks.
  • Works closely with the Group Guide in delegating responsibilities and allocationg time for various elements of each Growth Group meeting.
  • Coaches and confirms that the Prayer Point person is ready to contribute to the upcoming Growth Group.
  • Creates a fun, relaxed and positive tone and environment for the group meetings.
  • Leads the group in interactive mixers, icebreakers, hypothetical scenarios, mini-debates and other crative ways to get to know one another and/or introduce the topic of discussion
  • Leads the group in a time of accountability by using good questions.
  • Organizes periodic opportunities for group members to hang out with one another socially beyond the formal group meeting time.
  • Coorinates with other Fellowship Facilitators for a once a month ministry-wide social activity.

Group Guide (Guides into Biblical Truth)

  • Receives regular vision and equipping form a Campus Crusade training, staff, intern or volunteer ministry coach.
  • Connects regularly with the other Group Guides to pray, plan, and prepare together for Growth Group content in the coming weeks.
  • Prepares biblical discussion content from www.godsquad.com or other materials that are consistant with Campus Crusade for Christ mission, vision and distinctives, for the purpose for the purpose of helping group members understand and dialogue over the scriptures.
  • Works closely with the Fellowship Facilitator in delegating responsibilities and allocating time for the various elements of each Growth Group meeting.
  • Coaches and confirms that the Evangelism Equipper person is ready to contribute to the upcoming Growth Group.
  • Models and motivates group members toward personal daily quiet times.
  • Provides supplemental articles and other resources, which may help group members further explore each week's topic or as an aid to their personal study of God's Word.

Prayer Point (Builds over Obstacles to Obedience)

  • Receives direction and encouragement from the Fellowship Facilitator in deciding how to best incorporate prayer into each group meeting time.
  • Connnects regularly with the Prayer Points of other Growth Groups to pray, plan and prepare together for their role in the coming weeks.
  • Initiates and develops a heart for prayer in each Growth Group.
  • Compiles and distributes prayer needs from and among group members throughout the week.
  • Organizes periodic opportunities for group members to invest intensive time praying together.
  • Coordinates with other Prayer Points for a once a month ministry-wide prayer event. (E.g. Prayerwalk, Fasting, Progressive Prayer for the World, etc.)
  • Identifies and provides other outside development opportunities to group members such as local training seminars or prayer summits.
  • Seeks other prayer ideas at www.godsquad.com

Evangelism Equipper (Mentors toward Outreach)

  • Receives direction and encouragement from the Group Guide in deciding how to best incorprate training and outreach opportunities in their Growth Group meeting times.
  • Connects regularly with the other Evangelism Equippers to pray, plan and prepare together for this aspect of the Growth Group in the coming weeks.
  • Uses the CoJourner Equipping card pack to motivate and train group members to share their faith as a group activity.
  • Coordinates periodic opportunities for group members to share their faith as a group activity.
  • Coordinates with the other Evangelism Equippers for a once a month ministry-wide outreach event.
  • Identifies and provides other outside development opportunities to group members such as local training seminars or individual help in writing and presenting their personal testimony.
  • Seeks out other evangelism and outreach ideas at www.godsquad.com
