Concrete Canoe
Excitement is brewing in the air this year as we anticipate the return of a concrete canoe for the 2012 ASCE regionals!
UD's ASCE concrete canoe team is finally getting off the ground after an 11 year absense on campus. Much of the fall semester was dedicated to researching the canoe competition to be held in Lafiett in late April. After hours of research and planning, the team has finalized their design for the canoe and has created a sample pool of concrete mixes. The team has also begun pouring the concrete samples and will be testing them during the winter break. Over winter break the team will also be beginning construction on the wooden hull mold. If anyone is interesting in joining the team or will be around during the winter break and would like to get involved please contact the team captain, Taylor Gelinas, at tgelinas@udel.edu.
