WINTER AND SUMMER

at the University of Delaware

Summer's Unique Courses

Our Winter Session offers over 850 courses, many of which fulfill breadth requirements and minor requirements.

Listed below are the unique courses that are new to UD and those that are rarely offered outside of the traditional academic calendar. This is significant for majors with courses that are infrequently offered, and for students who are looking to get ahead, retake a course or explore new information.

Explore how individuals, communities, and cultures shape the world around us.

  • - DIST 250: Disability Studies: A Multidisciplinary Introduction; online asynchronous; fulfills a history and cultural change breadth requirement
  • - GAME260/HIST260: History of Gaming; online asynchronous; fulfills a history and cultural change breadth requirement
  • - HDFS470: Families and Children at Risk; will fill quickly; opportunity to engage in community-based experiences

Understand the natural systems that impact our planet—from oceans to weather and ecosystems. Each of these courses are online asynchronous, and they fulfill a math, natural sciences, and technology breadth requirement.

  • - ENWC 201: Wildlife Conservation and Ecology
  • - MAST 200: The Oceans
  • - GEOG 220: Meteorology (course and lab together could fulfill four credit lab science)
  • - GEOG 221: Meteorology Lab

Examine the creative works and media that influence how we think, feel, and connect.

  • MUSC 122: History of Film Music; online asynchronous; fulfills a creative arts and humanities breadth requirement

Discover how science informs health, nutrition, and cutting-edge biomedical innovation.

  • - ANFS 267: Pollutants and Nutraceuticals seminar; four-week online course
  • - ANFS 450: Applied Biomedical Communication; pre-req. ENG 110 required first; fulfills second writing requirement for students with more than 60 credits
  • - MMSC 692: Application of Molecular Diagnostics Techniques; typically only open to MMSC grad students in the Spring, but an undergrad section may be opened if there is sufficient interest; offered in the second Summer Session in a hybrid format (online lectures and in-person labs); open to students in related disciplines.

Build practical skills in business, finance, and economics that prepare you for a range of careers. Four Business Essentials Certificate courses are being offered asynchronous online this summer:

  • - ACCT 200: Survey of Accounting; only offered in the first summer session
  • - BUAD 100: Introduction to Business; offered in both summer sessions
  • - ECON 100: Economic Issues and Policies; only offered in the first summer session
  • - FINC 200: Fundamentals of Finance; only offered in the first summer session

Students: Does your graduation plan include
Winter and Summer Sessions?

Why invest in Winter and Summer sessions?

Want to get ahead or catch up with your coursework? The University of Delaware has a long tradition of offering high-quality courses rooted in research-based knowledge throughout the year — including winter and summer sessions between our traditional semesters.

Summer session includes two five-week terms or a 10-week term, and Winter Session is also an accelerated term that is shorter than the fall and spring terms. Both sessions also include UD’s popular study abroad programs, as well as many in-person, online and hybrid classes to help students meet their graduation goals.
