When received, there was so much dirt that the bug made 4 or 5 dits before coming to a rest. Cleaning was needed not just for appearance but to make the device useable once again. I later printed a label and put it on to give it a more finished appearance.
The entire bug was disassembled, pieces cleaned individually, base cleaned and blackened with shoe polish :-) and then reassembled. I think it's clear, but left column is before and right column is after cleaning.
