For
each exam you will need to be able to identify the composers and titles
of the pieces listed by listening to shorter audio excerpts from
the assigned recordings of those pieces. If the piece is part of
a larger work, you need to know title and/or movement number of that
piece as well as the overall title of the larger work. Unless otherwise
specified, if you are assigned more than one
movement/number/excerpt/selection from the same overall work, you'll
need to be able to distinguish each individual piece on the exam, in
addition to knowing the title of the overall work.
As your a studying, be sure to listen to each entire piece whose title is listed in a istening list.
(For the third quiz-assignment, you'll need to listen to Benjamin Britten's Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra,
which will not appear on the exam for audio identification. This
piece is included with the online audio materials at W.W. Norton.)

NOTE: Britten's Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra
will not be represented on the exam for audio recognition, but there
still may be questions about the piece in the non-listening portions of
the exam.
