Alumni Engagement Strategic Plan
Hengaging with UD Alumni
We want to connect with you! As the needs of our Blue Hen alumni evolve, we want to make sure we're evolving with you.
To ensure that UD shapes its programming, events and communications with our alumni in mind, the Office of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) has developed an Alumni Engagement Strategic Plan through 2030.
Blue Hens Forever
The strategic plan aims to foster a mutually beneficial relationship between the University and our Blue Hen community. These initiatives are designed to create a bridge between students and alumni, strengthen support for UD, provide enrichment opportunities and connect Blue Hens around the world.
Together, these efforts create Blue Hens Forever--a meaningful and lifelong relationship between UD and its alumni.
THE STRATEGIC PLAN
The plan will focus on four priorities. Below, we dive into what they mean for the Blue Hen community:
Student Success
We want students to experience the value of our global alumni community—one that can help launch their professional success, especially as they transition from students to alumni. We also want students to see UD as a resource to them long after graduation, creating a bond between them and their alma mater.
This work includes increasing collaboration with UD’s Career Centers and other campus partners to leverage more professional opportunities offered by alumni to students
Life Stages
We want to provide enrichment opportunities for the Blue Hen community during every age and stage of life. Efforts are already underway for our young alumni population (undergraduates within five years of graduation).
This work includes strengthening Life After UD programming and other regional events for young alumni, promoting continuing education and adding more travel opportunities.
Affinities
We look forward to expanding opportunities for all alumni to connect and engage by profession, identity, shared interest, region and college/unit. These groups of Blue Hens help build and foster valuable connections, both personal and professional, among alumni, student organizations and university partners.
This work includes learning more about our diverse alumni population and the different ways they want to engage with UD through their passions or interests. One example is through the launch of the UDPride Alumni Network.
Alumni Participation
By creating a meaningful and fulfilling experience for all alumni, we hope to build a stronger community of proud ambassadors, volunteers and donors who are inspired to support UD.
This work includes building a culture of volunteerism through training, recognition and increasing an inventory of meaningful opportunities.
